4th Grade Band
*We will have a dress rehearsal on Wednesday, March 8th in the AM.  Students should arrive at the HS at 6:15pm for the concert and report to the HS Gym.  Students will assemble instruments, leave cases and jackets in the gym, report directly to the auditorium, and sit in the assign bleacher seats.  We will warm up on stage at 6:40, and perform first in the concert.

5th Grade Band
*We will have a dress rehearsal on Tuesday, March 7th in the AM.  Students should arrive at the HS at 6:15pm for the concert and report to the HS Gym.  Students will assemble instruments, leave cases and jackets in the gym, and report directly to the stage for warm-up.  Warm-up will begin promptly at 6:20!  Once finished, 5th Graders will move to the bleacher seats in the auditorium (with instruments), and will return to stage following the 4th grade performance.

All Band Students should arrive in concert attire - the Ellis performance shirt (tucked in), black bottom, and black shoes.  Please be sure to launder and iron your shirt this week so that it is in good shape for the concert!  Once each group is finished performing, they will sit in the bleacher seats in the back of the auditorium to watch the rest of the concert.  Please plan to stay for the entire concert, and enjoy the MS and HS instrumental performing groups.  If you need to leave with your student early, please let Mr. Clermont know in advance of concert day.

Both groups have put in some incredible work to put together this concert in a short amount of time, and despite the wacky weather!  I am very excited to perform with them at this concert.  We hope you enjoy the show!

2017 NYSSMA Solo/Ensemble Festival

What is it?
The New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) holds festivals all across New York State each year.  Students prepare solos and small ensemble music and perform them for an adjudicator at these festivals.  The adjudicators will provide valuable feedback on the students playing.

When and Where?
Festivals are held at different sites each year - this year, we will be attending the festival at Bethlehem Middle School on April 8th.  Students will be assigned a 10-minute time slot to perform.

Why?
Preparing a NYSSMA solo is a unique personal and educational challenge!  The feedback provided is invaluable as you continue learning your instrument.  Consistent NYSSMA solo participation can be a great student resume item, and often leads to consideration for select performing ensembles such as All-County and All-State.

What do I have to do?
  1. Return the attached form by 1/12, recieve solo choices from Mr. Clermont.
  2. Have your student choose a solo and purchase a copy.
Schedule (3) NYSSMA lessons with Mr. Clermont (first one must be before Feb. break - See next page)
